Overcoming fear in your health & fitness journey

Can you think of a time where you wanted to do something, but didn’t - because you were scared?

If not…must be nice! I cannot relate. 😬

It’s actually amazing how much - and how often - fear keeps us from acting. I’m grateful that our minds are trying to keep us safe; but if we’re not careful, they can keep us from growing too.

This is true in all aspects of life, and health/fitness is no exception. We’re afraid that we’re going to look stupid, so we don’t go to that first workout class. We’re afraid that we won’t be able to stick with a new diet plan, so we never even start. Since we feel like we “failed” the past nine times, we’re afraid to get back up and try a tenth.

Stop letting fear get in your way. Stop letting fear keep you from growing.

Is it scary to embark on a new health and fitness journey? Heck yes! Is it going to be hard sometimes? I guarantee it! But what’s worse than staying stagnant? We humans are meant to learn and to grow. Growth comes from discomfort; and discomfort can be scary.

We must not let fear prevent us from acting. When we act, even - and especially - when we’re scared… that is where the magic happens!

It’s actually amazing what you can achieve when you suspend your fears and lean in:

Before fuelED, I never thought I could actually put on a significant amount of weight and muscle mass. However, Coach Allie created a very personalized program for me that helped me achieve my goals and become the heaviest - and strongest - I have ever been in my life.” ~Cody H.

I honestly thought I would never lose weight again. I had already tried everything I could possibly think of! I have struggled to lose weight for years. I gave fuelED a try, and I’m so glad I did! I finally lost 12 pounds!” ~Evelyn A.

So I want you to ask yourself:

  1. What’s keeping me from moving forward on my health and fitness journey?

  2. What fear(s) do I have when it comes to making a lifestyle change?

  3. What’s ONE way that I can act today - even if it’s a little uncomfortable?
